SARAJEVO, December 23 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Staša Košarac talked today, in separate meetings, with the Ambassadors of Turkey and Belarus to BiH, Haldun Koç and Aleksandar Ponomarev, respectively, on improving relations.
Košarac and Koç discussed improving co-operation between BiH and Turkey in the field of agriculture, and Koç briefed the minister on the initiative to organize a meeting with the Turkish minister of agriculture to intensify foreign trade and strengthen co-operation in the agricultural sector.
The Turkish ambassador proposed that a meeting at the ministerial level be held in January 2021 in Sarajevo or Ankara.
Minister Košarac accepted the invitation for the meeting, with the request that the BiH delegation, apart from him, also include the entity ministers of agriculture, in order to discuss in a comprehensive way, the improvement of cooperation and the increase of foreign trade.
The priority goal in the negotiations with the Turkish side should be the continuation of meat exports from BiH to Turkey on a larger scale, and the possibility of exporting finished meat products and essential oils to the Turkish market.
Minister Košarac assessed that the upcoming meeting at the ministerial level will be a good opportunity for the entity ministers to open a dialogue with the Minister of Agriculture of Turkey on numerous topics related to the development of that sector, since that issue is within the entity's competence.
At the meeting between Minister Košarac and Ambassador Ponomarev, it was stated that it is necessary to intensify bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture and industrial production, and that it is necessary to further strengthen cultural cooperation.
Minister Košarac expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Belarus will be opened in Pale on Thursday, December 24, and expressed hope that the activity of the Honorary Consulate will contribute to the development of overall relations between the two countries.
