SARAJEVO, February 14 (FENA) - A small avalanche killed one of the two mountaineers who climbed Mount Prenj this morning.

An experienced mountaineer and former president of the Mountaineering Association of BiH, Zehrudin Isaković, confirmed for FENA that two alpinists from Tuzla were on the Mount Prenj, near Jablanica.

According to him, a small avalanche destabilized one of them and pushed him down the slope.

“During the fall, he died from a skull fracture when he hit a rock. His name is Rade Šimić and is a member of the BiH Armed Forces. The other alpinist is alive and communicative,” stated Isaković.

Members of the Mountain Rescue Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina are already on the ground, and the rest of the rescue teams from several MRS stations in FBiH are involved in a rescue mission. Members from all stations are on standby to form the rescue team of the MRS BiH, announced the Mountain Rescue Service of BiH.
