GORAŽDE, February 24 (FENA) - The government of the Bosnian Podrinje Canton (BPC) in Goražde has signed memoranda of understanding with international organizations British Council and the UN Development Program in BiH (UNDP).
The Prime Minister of the BPC Goražde, Aida Obuća, emphasizes that in this way conditions have been created for concrete cooperation of that canton with those international organizations, which, according to her, brings benefits to all citizens of the canton.
She explained that the international organization British Council, which works in the field of education and establishing cultural ties, with the financial support of the European Union is implementing a two-year program called „EU Program for Young Civil Servants in BiH“ in which BPC Goražde will partake for the first time.
„This year, we expect significant steps on the path of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards gaining candidate status, and therefore we are implementing a number of measures and activities within the BPC Goražde, which this process will require. Here, I am thinking primarily of the reform of public administration and the judiciary, as well as the harmonization of cantonal legislation with the acquis communautaire. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the BPC Government and the international organization British Council enables young civil servants from our canton to participate in the project and further improve, all in order to have professional staff who will be able to meet these challenges, „said Obuća.
As she said, the goal of signing the memorandum is to determine, in addition to defining cooperation, guidelines in the fields of action, with an emphasis on sustainable and inclusive development, improvement of development planning and management system, provision of public services and social cohesion.
„The UNDP organization has been providing support to the BPC Goražde for many years. In addition to the financial and consulting support provided to us in the development of the new BPC Goražde Strategy for the period 2021-2027, whose value is estimated at more than 150,000 KM, support is provided to sustainable and inclusive development, environmental protection, various energy efficiency projects and many projects whose benefits are felt by all citizens of BPC Goražde. With the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, thanks to good cooperation between the Government of BPC Goražde and UNDP in 2020, the necessary medical devices and valuable medical and protective equipment intended for the fight against the COVID virus 19,“ Obuća reminded.
She pointed out that by signing a memorandum with the two international organizations, the Government of BPC Goražde maintains concrete cooperation, which is reflected in the support of this canton and its better positioning within the FBiH.
