SARAJEVO, March 10 (FENA) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that it would notify its decision in writing on the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH to ban the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Fadil Novalić and the FBiH Minister of Finance Jelka Milićević from performing the official duties of appointed officials until the first instance verdict.
Also, the Prosecution requested that the visit to the official premises of the Government of the Federation of BiH be banned and thus prevent the meeting with witnesses, while the same measure was requested for the suspended director of the FBiH Civil Protection Administration Fahrudin Solak, and for the owner of "Srebrna Malina" Fikret Hodžić from undertaking activities in that legal entity and a measure prohibiting visiting the premises of the entity.
They requested this to ensure, they say, that the evidence is conducted properly and devoid of external influence, arguing that the Court of BiH would thereby protect the dignity of the institutions in which Novalić and Milićević perform their duties and create the possibility of prosecuting crimes committed which the Prosecution alleges they committed because their official duties enabled them to do so.
Novalić's defense stated that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH provides some evidence that has been known since May 29, 2020, explaining that the Prosecutor's Office put this trial at the center of media coverage with this proposal.
They argue that for such measures to prohibit the performance of official duties, new evidence would have to be presented and new circumstances supported by evidence would have to occur, but the Prosecution did not point out any new facts.
It was also clarified that the Prosecution stated that Novalić met with senior officials in BiH, but the defense claims that the prohibitive measures imposed on Novalić during the investigation phase were specified by persons with whom he was banned from meeting, and top officials were not among them.
