Tegeltija: BiH Council of Ministers is committed to European integration

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 16 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zoran Tegeltija talked today in Sarajevo with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó about current topics related to overcoming the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, possibilities for improving cooperation in areas of mutual interest and European integration.

Tegeltija also briefed Minister Szijjártó on current activities related to meeting BiH's foreign policy priorities, emphasizing the BiH Council of Ministers' commitment to European integration and regional cooperation in the Western Balkans.

He welcomed the European Commission's new proposal to improve the process of joining the EU's "Credible Perspective for the Western Balkans", noting, in particular, the commitment and efforts of the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi to develop the methodology as a new approach.

He thanked Hungary for its continuous support and assistance to BiH on its European path and expressed hope that BiH would receive candidate status during the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union.

He pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina would especially benefit from the Hungarian experience and methods of using EU funds, given that Hungary is one of the largest beneficiaries.
