SARAJEVO, March 21 (FENA) - The Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić and Deputy Prime Minister Jelka Milićević, held an online meeting today with the prime ministers of the cantons to discuss the current situation with the pandemic and jointly assess further measures.
After the cantonal prime ministers presented the data on the situation caused by the pandemic, they agreed that the number of infected, after growing for days, began to decrease and stagnate in the last two days, which was interpreted as a result of the imposed measures, i.e. that citizens understood the seriousness of the situation and contributed with their responsible behavior.
The lowest number of infected people is still in the Una-Sana Canton, which Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić explained by the implementation of measures and the great engagement of the police that helped, emphasizing that a complete lockdown at this moment would have disastrous consequences for the economy.
The Prime Minister of the Central Bosnia Canton, Tahir Lendo, also agreed that the measures are yielding results and said that they noticed that there were no infected people in the villages, unlike in the urban areas, which is why they reduced local transport to keep it that way.
Prime Minister Novalić offered all cantonal prime ministers assistance in the implementation of measures through the engagement of the FBiH Police Administration and the FBiH Inspection, and made other resources of the FBiH Government available to the cantons.
A new meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. The prime ministers will prepare the latest report on the situation with the pandemic, as well as recommendations for further action.
In addition, it was agreed that joint meetings would continue to be held regularly once or twice a week in order to harmonize activities within the Federation of BiH and to help each other, all with the aim of overcoming the difficult situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
