SARAJEVO, March 22 (FENA) - Sarajevo caterers today again expressed dissatisfaction with the announced measures of the competent authorities with a peaceful gathering in front of the building of the Sarajevo Canton.

Disagreement with the announced measures was expressed on behalf of the Association of Sarajevo Canton caterers - Adil Šurković and Emir Karić, as well as Denis Stojnić, who agree that they cannot accept, as they stated "alms in the form of minimum wages".

At the same time, they stated that they were "cheated at the FBiH and sold at the cantonal level", and called on caterers and small businessmen to deregister workers and send them to the employment services, and file lawsuits for damages they suffered due to measures introduced after the pandemic.

Representatives of caterers note that they have been in a kind of semi-lockdown for a year, and that they work with barely 30 percent of capacity, saying that what the Sarajevo Canton has allocated for remediation in the hospitality industry is insufficient and unacceptable, and that these "symbolic funds" should be forwarded to health workers who are on the front line of defense against coronavirus.

They warned that the only thing left for them is “to lock until further notice", expressing dissatisfaction with the half measures in force, and reminding that they advocated a complete lockdown at the level of the entire BiH.

Today, the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton held an emergency session, at which, among other things, the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Mitigation of Negative Economic Consequences and Savings in SC was discussed, by urgent procedure.

“Due to the worsened epidemiological situation in the Sarajevo Canton, the amendments to this law proposed by the Government enabled the payment of compensation to all those who are banned from working by the Government's decision, more precisely to caterers,” said Cantonal Prime Minister Edin Forto.
