FBiH Prime Minister's online meeting with cantonal PMs on joint measures

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 22 (FENA) - The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalić, Deputy Prime Ministers Jelka Milićević and Vesko Drljača held an online meeting with the cantonal prime ministers today, in order to harmonize further joint action in accordance with yesterday's agreement.

Presenting the latest data on the number of patients, the cantonal prime ministers pointed out that there is an increased number of patients who need hospitalization, while the number of infected in most cantons has not yet reached the number of infected in the Federation of BiH during the second wave of the pandemic in late November last year.

Due to the increase in the number of patients, measures have been tightened in all the cantons in accordance with the recommendations of the crisis headquarters, but the situation is not the same in all the cantons.

The Prime Minister of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Nevenko Herceg, proposed to harmonize measures at the Federation of BiH level, to restrict the movement of goods and people, to try to harmonize the work of catering facilities due to "overflow of people from canton to canton", which contributes to coronavirus measures to be adopted by the cantons in agreement with the crisis staffs, which was supported by other participants of the meeting.

They also discussed lockdown, the tightening of measures, but also the implementation of the already imposed measures. Most prime ministers agreed that complete closure would lead to unforeseeable economic consequences and layoffs. It was also mentioned that the Federation of BiH has already had a complete lockdown, but that it was respected differently in the cantons, which is why everyone agreed that it is necessary to ensure the implementation of existing measures.

At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Novalić, summarizing all the proposals and recommendations, agreed with the cantonal prime ministers that it is a priority to help health care institutions and to adopt joint measures on the limited movement of goods and people.

The recommendations will be prepared tomorrow morning by Prime Minister Novalić together with Deputy Prime Ministers Milićević and Drljača, and in agreement with the Crisis Staff, they will be sent to the FBiH Government for adoption.
