SARAJEVO, March 29 (FENA) - After some media published a tendentious text stating that the FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić "tried overnight to fulfill Gazprom's plans to make BiH completely dependent on Russian gas", while, on the other hand, they would practically undermine the Southern Gas Interconnection project with the Republic of Croatia", and that everything was allegedly stopped at the intervention of the US Embassy in Sarajevo, we want to point out that these are completely arbitrary constructions and untruths, the Ministry announced.
As it is stated, the Ministry and Minister Džindić absolutely support the Southern Gas Interconnection project and are grateful to USAID for helping to speed up and start the activities on that project.
The route of Russian gas transport to BiH via Ukraine and Hungary was defined by the agreement between "Energoinvest" and "Gazprom" in 1998.
The Ministry is not a signatory to this agreement nor does it have any authority when it comes to concluding such agreements between the two companies.
The change of the route of transport of Russian gas to BiH and the agreements on that are also in the explicit competence of "Energoinvest" and "Gazprom".
In the end, there was no intervention by the American Embassy in Sarajevo, nor was there any communication with the Ministry when it comes to the transfer of Russian gas transport to BiH on the Turkish stream, it is pointed out.
