SARAJEVO, April 4 (FENA) - Presenting unverified and misleading allegations regarding the response of health institutions to the coronavirus pandemic, which we have witnessed in recent days in Bosnia and Herzegovina represents irresponsible behavior primarily towards patients and their families as well as doctors who are fighting for their lives, the Office of the member of the Presidency of BiH Šefik Džaferović announced.
The statement said that as we enter the second year of an unprecedented crisis, spreading speculation aimed at instilling unrest and undermining trust in healthcare institutions could have a fatal effect on all of us.
Such socially irresponsible behavior should be stopped. Health care institutions have the legal competence, obligation, and professional competence to present accurate data on the situation in COVID wards, which they do.
"Thus, the Institute of Public Health announced yesterday that the lowest mortality rate in the country is in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and the Sarajevo Canton. It directly denies disinformation about the work of KCUS.
The systematic spread of disinformation and conspiracy theories in all states is unacceptable and punishable behavior, especially in times of pandemic. Anyone who, in this situation, for political reasons, knowingly spreads disinformation and panic endangers the lives of patients and must be held accountable before the law, the statement said.
