BANOVICI, April 27 (FENA) - The FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić visited the Banovići coal mine today, where he talked with the Management and Supervisory Board about a fire that occurred a month ago in the underground exploitation complex.
"The Ministry has already informed the FBiH Government about all events based on daily communication with the Management and Supervisory Board of the coal mine. Everything was done according to the laws and quite professionally," Džindić pointed out.
He emphasized that the FBiH mining inspector, the police, the prosecutor's office and all security agencies have been informed about everything, and he expressed hope that the cause of the fire would be detected very soon.
Džindić said that the Management of the mine also presented a plan to restart production, but with the precondition of complete repair of the damage caused by the fire.
He is optimistic that in the next ten days the staff of the coal mine will use special methods to get to the site where the fire started.
He added that they exchanged information on how to cover the idle period in the operation of the pit and that they replaced a third of the production by increasing the production on the surface exploitation so that financially there would be no major losses.
"We have agreed with the Management of 'Elektroprivreda BiH' to discuss the purchase of 130,000 tons in order to help the mine financially in the coming period. We must not allow the shutdown of the most important coal mine in the FBiH," said Džindić.
