SARAJEVO, May 18 (FENA) - A meeting of pro-Bosnian political parties was held today at the headquarters of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP BiH) in Sarajevo with the aim of forming a third political bloc in the BiH entity of Republika Srpska and joint participation in the next General Elections in BiH.

This is a concept recently announced by the President and Vice President of the SDP BiH Nermin Nikšić and Vojin Mijatović, with the projection to ensure the support of 70,000 or more votes in the next elections, which would provide eight to ten deputies in the RS National Assembly, two MPs in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and vice presidents from the ranks of Bosniak and Croat peoples.

Representatives of some ten political parties gathered around this initiative expressed an expectation that the implementation of the concept will make it possible to strengthen the presence of pro-Bosnian forces in the RS entity, overcoming disagreements and vanities that characterize the activities of parties in the FBiH, and act based on principles and programs.

A draft of a joint statement was made at the meeting, on which the political parties will comment later, and the formation of a team for inter-party coordination and a team for the diaspora was also announced.

The President of the SDP BiH, Nermin Nikšić, expressed satisfaction with the response of the representatives of the political parties assessing the first meeting within the mentioned initiative as very constructive.

"Due to the increasingly frequent incidents and attacks on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH, and the narratives of its dissolution, division, it is important that all political parties that stand for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH in their political activities and programs try to agree in the only democratic way for the elections and the realization of the election results which will enable a position in which the government in the RS could not be formed without those representatives," said Nikšić, after the meeting.

He announced that the next meeting would be organized in the next fifteen days in Banja Luka.

He added that it was agreed that all parties, participants in the initiative, prepare candidates who will take over its further implementation with the desire that these will be individuals that live and work in the RS.

Vice President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Edin Ramić, on behalf of that party, expressed readiness to participate in this process, stating that talks on the platform and principles of action would continue.

As he said, it was agreed in principle that after the Banja Luka meeting, the talks would continue at various political entities, participants in the initiative.

"I have no illusion that our gathering will significantly change the relations between the RS as an entity and Serbia on the other hand, but we want to significantly improve the position of returnees by having a stronger political representation in the RS entity," said Ramić, who believes that in the talks of creating some new governments it will be possible to secure the rights of returnees which are now, unfortunately, neglected.

He warned that the unification of the education system in the RS and the Republic of Serbia is underway in a way that they have joint programs, and that in the FBiH each canton has its own program, expressing the expectation that the initiative would bring positive effects in the RS.

Referring to the impressions from the meeting, the president of the People and Justice Party (NiP), Elmedin Konaković, said that it was not the time for euphoria.

"We are very careful, we are not at all euphoric, nor pessimistic, because we think that an idea like this one can have a good ending, but that a lot of preconditions need to be fulfilled for it to happen," Konaković added.

The goal, as he said, is to determine the circumstances why there are only about 40,000 votes in the RS today when there were close to 200,000 15 years ago.

As announced, the third bloc should work on strengthening the Bosnian identity in the RS and thus establish itself as a significant political factor in the entity.
