SARAJEVO, May 21 (FENA) - Rector of Bezmialem Vakif University from Istanbul Rümeyza Kazancıoğlu and Director of the General Hospital 'Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakaš' Ismet Gavrankapetanović signed a Memorandum on cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experiences.
The Memorandum will primarily relate to the education of young doctors in areas represented in the General Hospital.
At the press conference, Director of the Sarajevo General Hospital, Ismet Gavrankapetanović, expressed satisfaction with the opportunity for education of the doctors from Sarajevo and stressed that the agreement would also enable senior colleagues to exchange experiences with doctors from the university hospital in Turkey.
Rector Kazancıoğlu emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences, knowledge and continuous education, which, as she said, is already contributed by today's professional meeting at the Sarajevo General Hospital.
At this gathering, prominent professors from Istanbul presented, among other things, previous experiences from Turkey in the treatment of patients with Covid-19. Experts from the Sarajevo General Hospital also shared their experiences and challenges in the treatment of patients with Covid-19.
Rector Kazancıoğlu said that Turkey, like the rest of the world, is slowly preparing to 'open up to a normal life', after the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic. She expressed great gratitude to the local medical staff, who made enormous effort to fight COVID-19. They are monitoring the process of treating these patients, as well as the vaccination process.
The General Hospital took care of about nine thousand patients with COVID-19 in seven months, of which about 1,600 were in long-term hospitalization. There are currently 25 patients in the postcovid ward of the General Hospital.
