Štefanek-Ujić: Strengthen the capacities of Service for Foreigners' Affairs

SARAJEVO, May 27 (FENA) - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe for Migration and Refugees, Drahoslav Štefánek, with his associates, visited the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs today.
 
Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Slobodan Ujić, and Ambassador Štefanek discussed the current situation related to migration in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as cooperation in order to resolve the issue of increased influx of migrants.
 
The Director of the Service pointed out that about 3,300 migrants are currently staying in temporary reception centers, and that a new wave of migrants is expected in the next period, considering the improvement of weather conditions.
 
Štefanek pointed out that the situation has significantly improved in relation to his last visit, i.e. in January 2021.
 
The interlocutors emphasized assistance and support that the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs has from the European Union in resolving the migrant crisis, as well as the need to strengthen the capacity of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, announced the Service for Foreigners Affairs.
