Dodik: The interdepartmental working group will not achieve its goal

EAST SARAJEVO, June 3 (FENA) - The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, said that the Interdepartmental Working Group for Changing the Electoral Legislation will not achieve the set goal.

He assessed that the key agreement between the representatives of Croats and Bosniaks on the issue of the Federation of BiH, which, he claims, was transferred to the state level, and the Interdepartmental Working Group is just an attempt to find a solution "which will not be achieved".

He reiterated that the SNSD will not allow the participation of representatives of the Central Election Commission (CEC) in the work of the Group, stating that the institution showed intentions in the local elections that were aimed at pushing certain political options, not laws.

He also referred to the appointment of a new High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, saying that this has further complicated the relations within BiH because "they are trying to give legitimacy to the new person while avoiding the decisions of the United Nations Security Council".

"Confusion arises with the fact that now it is not known who the High Representative is. A new one has been appointed, and the current Valentin Inzko is still here. It is an addition to the mess from the point of view of management and violation of regulations. The Peace Implementation Council (PIC) points to the need to create the rule of law, and they are violating the Dayton Peace Agreement and the domestic legislation," he said.

He is also of the opinion that unsettled relations within the international community are being dealt with via Bosnia and Herzegovina, "which is a state that is divided and unsuccessful".

He also said that the Bonn powers of the High Representative are a thing of the past and that they have sown additional divisions within BiH, and he also emphasized that "the Republika Srpska will not accept the new High Representative or the decisions he tries to impose".

The Chairman of the Presidency of BiH believes that they reached a good agreement in Belgrade, saying that Serbia has the right and obligation to be actively involved in the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement because it is a signatory to other annexes, including Annex 10.
