ZENICA, June 4 (FENA) - During his visit to the Zenica-Doboj Canton and the Zenica Cantonal Hospital (KBZ), the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Fadil Novalić answered the questions of the media about the problems in procuring vaccines for citizens and the slow vaccination process in the entity.
Novalić pointed out that the Federation of BiH is not exactly responsible for the procurement of vaccines, although they have accepted that obligation. He reminded that this job, everywhere in the world, is done by the state authorities.
"The second thing is that we, in global terms, so to speak, "did not run to get to them first and to be some guinea pigs. Some countries have accepted that like Hungary, Serbia, Israel..."
The same percentage of vaccinations, as we have it, is in some of the more developed countries like Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea... In that global game of vaccines, those who produce them did the best, and only then, those who are powerful. Only then come those that we call 'third-world' countries," said Novalić.
However, he added, the FBiH Government is certainly in the final phase of procuring the vaccines, but that they suffered in the process by the public campaign for the procurement of COVID vaccines.
"The Russian Fund also told us that they will not tolerate being exposed in that way. And, then, we closed the information and, now, we are, indeed, in the last days before signing the contract," he added.
Today, the Chinese state agency signed the agreement and sent it by diplomatic mail. We haven't received it yet. We will get it these days and we will sign it immediately. Today we had a meeting with Pfizer and we will purchase one million vaccines. Also, a contract will be signed in 15 days," announced Novalić.
Mass vaccination is not only a matter of procurement of vaccines but also the organization of the mass vaccination process, which is under the jurisdiction of the cantonal institutes for public health, said Novalić.
