Rančić: BiH's public debt amounts to 12.1 billion KM

SARAJEVO, June 15 (FENA) - Deputy Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina Hazim Rančić informed today the deputies of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH that the Federation of BiH participates in the total public debt of BiH with 51.1 percent, RS with 47.9 percent, BiH institutions with 0.52 percent and Brčko District with 0.44 percent.

He specified that the public debt of BiH as of December 31, 2020 amounted to 12.1 billion KM, of which the external debt was 8.6 billion KM or 71.2 percent, and the internal 3.4 billion KM or 28.7 percent .

“Public debt amounts to 35 percent of the GDP of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that share has increased in 2020,” Rančić pointed out.

He explained that the public debt of BiH in 2020 compared to the year before increased by 943.3 million KM or 8.4 percent, with the external debt increased by 519.8 million KM, and internal by 423.4 million KM .

Rančić stated that 78 percent of the debt was taken from the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Paris Club.
