SARAJEVO, June 16 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina does not want to be a place of political debates but to make decisions for the benefit of all citizens. Fourteen priorities are important for BiH, but there are much more important issues before BiH, said today Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers, Zoran Tegeltija (SNSD).
Namely, he answered the question of SDP MP in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Zukan Helez, who at a joint session of both houses asked what has been done to meet the 14 priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission in order for BiH to obtain candidate status for membership in the European Union.
Tegeltija says that some of these conditions are written as if BiH does not expect candidate status, but as if BiH will be a full member of the European Union after that.
He adds that the essential things are three legal solutions, and the Election Law is the fourth. One of them is the Law on Public Procurement, which is in the parliamentary procedure, while the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) will be sent to the parliamentary procedure in ten days.
When it comes to the Law on Conflict of Interest, it is currently in the phase of harmonization between the Ministry of Justice and the Venice Commission, and it should be presented to MPs very soon.
He reminded that an Interdepartmental Working Group had been formed to amend the Election Law, which would analyze all proposals, and announced that the Council of Ministers is ready to determine the draft text of the Election Law if political agreement is reached.
