SARAJEVO, June 21 (FENA) - The Public Administration Reform Coordinator’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with the Agency for Statistics and the Program for Strengthening Public Institutions implemented by GIZ found a slight increase in meeting transparency standards in institutions at the state level of Bosnia and Herzegovina compared to last year’s survey. Requests to complete the questionnaire were submitted to 81 institutions, and 62 institutions provided answers to all 38 questions related to proactive transparency standards.
These are the results of the third online survey on the fulfillment of proactive transparency standards conducted earlier this year after the BiH Council of Ministers adopted the Proactive Transparency Policy and Standards in December 2018 and instructed BiH institutions to implement them. As it was said today, the response of institutions is higher every time, and the results are getting better.
Deputy State Coordinator for Public Administration Reform Darko Kasap stressed that only four institutions of the Council of Ministers have fully met transparency standards. These are the Directorate for European Integration, the Agency for Higher Education and Quality Assurance, the Agency for Statistics and the Public Administration Reform Coordinator's Office. These institutions published all data and information of public importance (from contacts of employees to the total remuneration of managers and employees).
Director of the Agency for Statistics of BiH Vesna Ćuzić is satisfied with the fact that more and more institutions participate in the survey, but also emphasizes that public administration must not forget that ensuring the right to access information, establishing cooperation and constant dialogue with users, transparency, openness and accountability are crucial to maintaining public trust.
