SARAJEVO, July 6 (FENA) - Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Vojin Mitrović participated today in the ministerial meeting on cross-border connectivity between the EU and the Western Balkans.
At the beginning of his presentation, Mitrović pointed out that everyone gathered today in Brdo near Kranj has a common interest, which is the further development of uninterrupted and functional transport under all the conditions that traffic safety brings because only that makes sense and offers economic growth.
"Joint cooperation is the key to success in the field of transport. The international strategic commitment should be in the function of achieving the highest quality of transport in every respect, to which BiH gives full support. When it comes to BiH, the challenges are, first of all, the completion of Corridor Vc through BiH, arrangement of the Sava River waterway, upgrade of airport infrastructure and rehabilitation and construction of other infrastructure located on the indicative expansion of the TEN-T network. However, the most important issue is better transport connections with neighboring countries, which we are working on with dedication," said Mitrović.
He mentioned some other challenges in transport that need to be overcome, noting that one of the biggest challenges is waiting at border crossings to perform control procedures, which completely destroys the competitiveness and reliability of transport.
"In order for all of us in the Western Balkans to be as competitive as possible, we need integrated border crossings. However, any serious progress is impossible without the active support and participation of the European Union countries with which the Western Balkans shares its borders," said Mitrovic and cited the construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway as an example of good cooperation, the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport said.
