SARAJEVO, July 8 (FENA) - The Albanian Parliament has appointed the incumbent General Director of the Albanian News Agency (ATA), Armela Krasniqi, as president of the Audiovisual Media Authority.

On that occasion, the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), the Association of Balkan News Agencies - Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE) and the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN) congratulated her on the election to the new position. Krasniqi has been very involved in these associations over the past four years as general director of ATA. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of EANA, and was also the president of ABNA.

General Manager of the Federal News Agency FENA Elmir Huremović also congratulated Armela Krasniqi on her appointment to the new position, recalling the fruitful cooperation between FENA and ATA in recent years.

"Under your leadership in the past four years, ATA has further strengthened its leadership position in the Albanian media space, but has also imposed itself as a respectable source of media content in the region and beyond. I am proud of the cooperation we have had in recent years, strengthening the professional ties between FENA and ATA, but also jointly contributing to objective, timely and accurate information to the public. Among other things, our cooperation resulted in a better understanding of the tourist potentials of the two countries and additional rapprochement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania," Huremović pointed out.
