TIRANA, July 11 (FENA) – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama commemorated on Sunday the 26th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, which by the ruling of the Hague Tribunal is classified as genocide, ATA reports.
"July 11, 26 years since the Srebrenica genocide," Rama said, sharing a moving photo of a woman in the cemetery of those killed in Srebrenica.
On July 11, 1995, Bosnia’s Serb forces killed more than 8,000 Muslim men and boys in the eastern Bosnian enclave of Srebrenica. About 15,000 men and boys managed to escape, hiding in the wood, but many more were slain by Serbian military forces.
The European Parliament has declared July 11 the commemoration date of the worst episode of mass murder within Europe since World War II.
