POTOČARI, July 11 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Javad Zarif, in a message read by his special envoy Muhammad Ebrahim Taherian, Iran's first ambassador to BiH, expressed solidarity with the peoples and grieving victims in Srebrenica today.

In a letter read to those gathered at the commemoration of the 26th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, he pointed out that the events in Srebrenica are the darkest chapters in modern humanity and that although it should not be a source of hatred among nations, it should never be forgotten.

He noted that the commemoration of the anniversary of Srebrenica genocide reminds the international community of the need to advocate for justice and refrain from violence and a sense of responsibility in protecting the oppressed.

He therefore called on the international community and especially world leaders that proclaim themselves as advocates of the protection of human rights and democracy to truly adhere to true human values.

“Although the verdicts of international courts are important steps, Srebrenica remains a wound on the conscience of humanity as many survivors, mothers of Srebrenica and exiles still suffer. We share the grief of families who have been seeking justice day and night for 26 years and are committed to preserving the memory of the victims in order to prevent its oblivion and denial of genocide,” concluded the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Javad Zarif.
