Komšić and Džaferović with Berger:Implement reforms on BiH's path to EU and NATO

SARAJEVO, August 1 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić and BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović received State Secretary at the German Foreign Ministry Miguel Berger and discussed the political situation in BiH and the arrival of new High Representative, Christian Schmidt in BiH.
 
Members of the Presidency of BiH expressed satisfaction with the visit of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany and thanked for the continuous support to BiH in the political and socio-economic field, and especially on the Euro-Atlantic path.
 
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized Germany's interest in the development of BiH and confirmed that Germany will continue to do everything to ensure the continuation of BiH's path to the EU.
 
They discussed the political situation in BiH, and the arrival of the new High Representative Christian Schmidt in BiH, and emphasized the extremely important role of the OHR when it comes to implementing the necessary reforms in BiH.
 
Germany fully supports the Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and believes that it is necessary to implement reforms that will lead BiH further towards the EU and NATO, and is committed to helping BiH and the region through the Berlin Process, said the Presidency of BiH.
 
The interlocutors agreed that the Dayton Peace Agreement is not a document from which one can choose what one wants to apply, but must be fully respected.
 
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany pointed out that Germany refuses any changes of the borders, and expresses its disappointment with various "non-papers" made on that basis, it is said in the statement.
 
The officials also stressed the importance of the implementation of 14 priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission, as well as the obligations from the reform program.
 
The pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus was also discussed at the meeting, and Germany expressed readiness to donate three million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to the region, part of which would go to BiH, which the BiH Presidency members supported and thanked for Germany's continued support, announced the Presidency of BiH.
