SARAJEVO, August 2 (FENA) - Former High Representative Valentin Inzko said during the handover ceremony between him and the new High Representative Christian Schmidt today that he will have his full support and that he knows that Schmidt will work decisively and effectively to protect the interests of the peoples in BiH.
He noted that he had the honor of serving as the international community's High Representative for BiH since March 26, 2009, adding that he was handing over the mandate today to his successor and his dear friend Christian Schmidt.
Inzko summarized some of the activities he has worked during his mandate and stressed that they worked on state property and on the state Constitutional Court.
“We also worked on the state agency for indirect taxes, as well as the electricity transmission company Elektroprenos and the Central Bank of BiH,” said Inzko.
He stated that Schmidt was a member of the German Bundestag for a long time, the state secretary for defense, as well as the minister of agriculture for four years, so he will make this long-term experience available to the citizens of BiH.
Inzko said the Office of the High Representative exists and operates in the broader context of a changing legislative structure.
According to him, the only goal of the development, support and strengthening of that structure was to help the recovery of BiH after the conflict and to return it to the active membership of the European family of countries.
He stated that the new High Representative will continue from what they have achieved over the past 12 years, just as he started from the legacy of his predecessors.
“Today I have the honor to hand over to my successor an updated edition of the basic OHR documents. This, now large collection of documents, contains all OHR decisions made over a period of 25 years, in accordance with the mandate set out in Annex 10 of the Dayton Peace Agreement,” said Inzko.
