SARAJEVO, August 30 (FENA) - As a final activity within the project "Combating Gender-Based Violence in Police Structures in BiH", which is implemented with the support of the US Embassy, "Guidelines for combating and tackling sexual harassment and harassment based on gender in the police” were created and distributed to the police bodies today.
The authors of the guidelines are Kristina Jozić and Aida Cacan, police officers, and Adnan Kadribašić, a gender equality expert.
In parallel, posters were created aimed at raising awareness about zero tolerance towards sexual and gender-based harassment in the police, which were placed in visible places in 16 police bodies in BiH.
President of the Association "Network of Female Police Officers" (MPS) and one of the authors, Kristina Jozić, points out that research has shown that in BiH there is almost no police officer who during her professional career has not been exposed to some form of discrimination with a focus on sexual and gender-based harassment.
The aim of the "Guidelines for preventing and tackling sexual harassment and gender-based violence in the police" is to improve the behavior of officials responsible for investigating and documenting cases of discrimination within the police.
The Guidelines were preceded by a series of trainings aimed at raising awareness about the presence of sexual and gender-based harassment in the police, introducing the basic forms of this type of discrimination and the protection mechanisms present, and encouraging such cases to be reported.
