SARAJEVO, August 31 (FENA) - Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sifet Podžić on Tuesday received in an official visit the Acting First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Stanley Brown and the US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Eric Nelson.
The collocutors discussed the achievements in the field of military cooperation between BiH and the USA and the possibilities of expanding that cooperation.
Minister Podžić pointed out that the US Government has been the largest and most reliable partner when it comes to assistance in equipping the BiH Armed Forces.
He emphasized the financial challenges facing the MoD and the AFBiH considering the fact that this year's budget has not yet been passed.
Ambassador Nelson noted that significant results are being achieved by the AFBiH in the field of assistance to citizens and civilian institutions in the event of various natural disasters and peacekeeping missions.
For the Ministry of Defense of BiH, he stated that its organization and activities can be a paradigm and an example to other ministries at the state level in BiH, especially when it comes to BiH's path towards NATO.
In his position as Acting First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Stanley Brown oversees the US Conventional Arms Destruction Program, the US State Department's capacity-building activities for peacekeeping operations abroad, and related security cooperation efforts.
Brown expressed confidence that further efforts to modernize the AFBiH with US assistance would be successful and to the benefit of all BiH citizens.
