GRABOVICA, September 9 (FENA) - President of HDZ BiH and HNS BiH Dragan Čović, commenting on the recent appearance of High Representative Christian Schmidt, said that legitimate representation is a condition for the survival of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Christian Schmidt said at a conference in Germany on Sunday that the Croat part of the population, which, as he pointed out, was further reduced by emigration, felt under-represented in complicated state structures.
Čović believes that the High Representative did not side with anyone, as some believe.
"When he said that we have a problem of legitimate representation here, he said it in the interest of protecting Bosnia and Herzegovina. Because, if there is no legitimate representation, there will be no Bosnia and Herzegovina. He only protects BiH, all three peoples and all the inhabitants of BiH," said Čović in Grabovica at the marking of the anniversary of the crime committed against the Croat population of that place.
He added that the Constitution must work.
"What I have heard from him, since his arrival and officially from this conference, is first of all giving BiH a chance to function as a normal state. While this constitution is in place, we will blindly support it," he said.
The head of the HDZ BiH believes that no one will impose the new constitution.
Čović claimed that there was a "false reference to pro-Bosnian policies" in BiH.
"Let someone explain to me what pro-Bosnian policies mean in BiH? False patriotism in the name of one political option or group is meaningless, in my opinion. I think of Bosnia and Herzegovina as my homeland. I think that by the end of September we will have intensive talks in order to finally finish this work, so that there is no more trading about whether there are too many or too few Croats in the institutions. The Constitution and the law are within our behavior, and I will consider everything else as the demolition of BiH," Čović said.
