SARAJEVO, September 30 (FENA) - Members of the BiH Presidency received Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary General for Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) and Crisis Response at the European External Action Service (EEAS).
During the meeting, they discussed the European path of BiH, the next steps and cooperation between BiH and the EU in the field of foreign policy, security and defense, the fight against terrorism and migration. The commitment of the EU to the process of accession to BiH was confirmed and it was emphasized that it is necessary to continue working on the realization of the priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission and the Reform Program.
Deputy Secretary General Fries said that he is on a two-day visit to BiH to attend the closing ceremony of the ALTHEA operation in BiH, the longest EU operation in existence since 2004, but also to participate in the EU-BiH Counter-Terrorism Dialogue.
During the meeting, they also discussed the demining process in BiH, and said that the ALTHEA operation is dedicated to the demining process in BiH and in cooperation with local authorities is working on this important issue. It was said that the Ministry of Defense of BiH has agreed to support the demining process in the donation of material funds for demining, the Presidency of BiH announced.
