BiH Court president Ranko Debevec acquitted after disciplinary proceeding

SARAJEVO, October 7 (FENA) - Second Instance Disciplinary Commission for Judges of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH), deciding on the appeal of the defendant Ranko Debevec, President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor) against the decision of the First Instance Disciplinary Commission for Judges of the HJPC BiH, issued a decision approving the defendant's appeal in full and amending the decision of the First Instance Disciplinary Commission for Judges of the HJPC BiH from 13 July 2021.

The decision refers to the part in which the defendant was declared responsible and a disciplinary measure of public reprimand was imposed on him, by rejecting the disciplinary lawsuit accusing the defendant of disciplinary offenses prescribed in the Law on the HJPC, "conduct in and out of court detrimental to the reputation of the judicial office and intentionally providing false, misleading and insufficient information in relation to any other matters within the jurisdiction of the Council.

Furthermore, the Second Instance Disciplinary Commission for Judges rejected the appeal of the ODC and upheld the decision of the First Instance Disciplinary Commission for Judges of the HJPC BiH from 13 July 2021 in the part rejecting item b) of the disciplinary lawsuit, which charges the defendant with committing a disciplinary offense prescribed by Article 56, item 22 of the Law on the HJPC "conduct in court and out of court that damages the reputation of the judicial office."

Thus, the President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ranko Debevec has been acquitted of the disciplinary responsibility.

The decision of the Second Instance Disciplinary Commission is final and there is no possibility to appeal it, the HJPC BiH said.
