SARAJEVO, October 21 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotić talked today in Sarajevo with the Swiss Minister of Justice and Police Karin Keller-Sutter about strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, with special emphasis on the issue of migration.

After the meeting, Minister Cikotić told reporters that they discussed migration and that he thanked Minister Keller for one of the latest activities, which is the support of the Swiss government to address some practical issues of equipping the Lipa camp, which arose due to complex mechanisms of public procurement.

"We also discussed new mechanisms of cooperation," said Minister Cikotić, adding that he was very grateful to his colleague for everything the Swiss government has been doing in cooperation with BiH.

Swiss Minister of Justice and Police Karin Keller-Sutter said that during the talks they both emphasized the very good relations between BiH and Switzerland, especially on the issue of cooperation in the field of migration and police.

"BiH is an important transit country. The role of BiH is very important when it comes to preventing illegal migration. Switzerland greatly appreciates the work of BiH in this area and we also appreciate the efforts of the Ministry of Security of BiH," said Minister Keller-Sutter.

She pointed out that Minister Cikotić and she completely agreed that security is an issue "that has to be tackled jointly together in the interest of all our citizens."

"Switzerland will continue to support these efforts, including the Lipa reception center, especially when it comes to electricity and heating, given that the winter period is coming soon, but also to meet certain support needs in terms of migration management," said the Minister.

She says they have agreed to continue cooperation and step up efforts on migration management, but also on the border, registration, return and the fight against organized crime.

Minister Cikotić said that they do not expect the scenario from last year to be repeated, because the Lipa camp has been fully equipped two months ago, except that the supply of electricity from the city network has not been provided yet.

"The Swiss government has secured the money to carry out this procedure without applying the provisions of domestic law, which means the job will be completed in the next few days," said Cikotić.

He added that they already have generators in case there is no electricity from the city network, but the quality of the power supply from the transmission line, which is already being installed, is far better, and kilometers of power transmission lines have already been built.

"We do not expect the last year's scenario to happen again," Cikotić concluded.
