SARAJEVO, October 31 (FENA) - Jahorina Olympic Mountain will be ready to welcome the beginning of the winter season, with numerous facilities that will make an unforgettable stay for tourists on this mountain.
Director of the Jahorina Olympic Center, Dejan Ljevnaić, said in a conversation with FENA that the biggest works ever are underway.
Currently, five new cable cars are being built, and the most significant project is the new Poljice gondola with a capacity of 3,600 skiers per hour, which is twice as much as the old one.
He added that their goal is for that gondola to work 365 days a year.
Two new six-seater chairlifts are also being built. One in Rajska dolina that is already finished and put into operation, tests are underway. The second is on the location behind the weekend settlement in the municipality of Trnovo, next to which a new trail was made, which is covered with a snow system, and a new children's polygon was made to reduce crowds in Poljice and transfer guests from the weekend settlement to that polygon.
Ljevnaić says that there are also two ski lifts in Rajska dolina, with the goal of developing the sports part of Jahorina, competitively, and to put the Olympic downhill track into operation after 30 years.
He also stated that they are working on a new seven kilometers of snow system, which, according to him, is also extremely important for the mountain. According to him, the whole season depends on that system.
They also arranged the area around the lake at the top.
“These are projects that we plan to realize by the end of November, i.e. by the beginning of this season,” said Ljevnaić.
He notes that they also have summer contents, which only Mount Jahorina has in Europe, and that is why Jahorina will surely be recognizable.
Ljevnaić points out that they are trying to make Jahorina the safest ski center in this part of Europe.
They have also taken appropriate measures in order to protect against the Covid-19 virus, they have installed a device for disinfecting cabins, gondolas, they have points for disinfecting skiers.
He says that the task of the Olympic Center Jahorina is to give the maximum and to be the best, and it is up to the skiers to decide where they will go to ski.
He believes that it will be a good gastronomic offer on Jahorina in that period, and that, thanks to the planned music and guests, Jahorina will be the best place to spend time in this part of Europe.
