SARAJEVO, November 11 (FENA) - BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović met in Brussels with members of the European Parliament Tineke Strik and Romeo Franz.
They discussed the current security and political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The topic of conversation was the previous and planned activities of the European Parliament in connection with the disturbed security situation in BiH.
Džaferović pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the international community, has made huge progress in the past 26 years, and that this progress is threatened by unilateral actions of the RS entity authorities.
He underlined that thanks to the established state institutions, peace has been preserved in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that the attack of Milorad Dodik and the RS authorities on the state and its institutions is an attack on the foundations of peace.
The talks focused on Dodik's announcements that he would attack the barracks of the BiH Armed Forces, and try to prevent state institutions from operating on the territory of the RS entity by illegal force.
BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović said that the European Union should provide full support to the Office of the High Representative, as well as mechanisms for sanctioning actors who undermine the constitutional order. He said it was better to stop one politician than to allow him to drag the entire country into destabilization and conflict.
Džaferović emphasized that the changes to the Election Law must be implemented with full respect of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, and that all political parties, including the government and the opposition, take a common position, the BiH Presidency said.
