SARAJEVO, November 15 (FENA) - Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sifet Podžić received today the UN Women Representative in BiH David Saunders
Podžić expressed gratitude for the support provided by the UN Women in BiH to the Ministry of Defense, especially in the context of the affirmation of gender equality in the defense system.
“The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) strive to be the best part of our society. Every citizen of BiH can feel our army as their own. This is also true when it comes to gender equality. The role of women in the armed forces in today's world is becoming increasingly important,” said Minister Podžić.
He added that the introduction of the principles of equality and gender equality in all areas of social life and work is the fulfillment of one of the basic standards for the realization of human rights and freedoms.
Representative of the UN Woman in BiH thanked for the reception and expressed his desire to continue the very successful cooperation so far.
At the end of the meeting, Podžić used the opportunity to personally and on behalf of all members of the Ministry of Defense of BiH and AFBiH thank for the support provided by the mission to the defense structures of BiH, announced the Press Service of the Ministry of Defense of BiH.
