Ljubić sends an open letter to representatives of the international community

FENA Press release

MOSTAR, 19 November (FENA) - President of the General Council of the Croat People's Assembly (HNS) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, dr. Božo Ljubić sent an open letter to the representatives of the international community in which he warned about the deepest political and institutional crisis in the country since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The letter was addressed to Anthony Blinken, Gabriel Escobar, Matthew Palmer, Gregory W. Meeks, Josep Borrell, Angelina Einchorst, Christian Schmidt, Johann Sattler, Eric Nelson, EU ambassadors and some domestic stakeholders, the HNS said in a statement.

In his view of the current political situation in BiH, as well as a possible solution, Ljubić says, among other things, that in order to get out of the current crisis, it is necessary to understand why BiH 26 years after the war and the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement is still a divided society and an unstable state and what should be done to make it more stable and functional.

In his opinion, the source of many political problems in BiH lies in the fact that "the pro-Bosniak political bloc believes that only they are 'pro' BiH and that the parties from the RS and the HNS BiH are 'against' BiH".

He points out that in order to realize its political agenda, the pro-Bosnian bloc works in two directions, the first is to weaken the position and power of the RS entity, and the second direction is to deny and weaken the Croat constituency in the FBiH entity and at the state level.

He reiterated that Croats should be institutionally and politically equal with Bosniaks and Serbs, but, unfortunately, as he says, Croats are not only not equal with Bosniaks and Serbs, but the very constituent status of Croats in BiH is directly endangered.

In his opinion, the greatest responsibility for such a situation lies with "parties and political actors from the so-called 'pro-Bosnian bloc' who used and misused the interventions of international representatives in the Election Law and the constitutions of the entities."

Ljubić further states that any disturbance of the "balance of institutional and political powers between the constituent peoples established by the DPA leads BiH into deeper divisions and growing instability."

He is of the opinion that BiH should be established on the principles of federalism, decentralization and legitimate representation of the constituent peoples and citizens.
