BANJA LUKA, February 10 (FENA) - The session of the National Assembly of the entity of Republika Srpska (RSNA) continued today in Banja Luka with a debate on the Draft Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of the RS.

The draft law on the entity HJPC envisages the establishment of the HJPC at the level of the RS, which would, among other things, have competencies for the election of judges and prosecutors in the entity, and include organization, activities and other competencies and powers.

In the course of the debate in which, among others, MPs Igor Crnadak, Dušica Solaja, Goran Selak, Nedeljko Glamočak and Jelena Trivić took part so far, they expressed their discontent with disregard for previous conclusions of the RSNA, and the fact that the RS government did not withdraw its consent to the Agreement on the HJPC at the state level.

At the same time, some deputies expressed dissatisfaction that the president of the SNSD and member of the Presidency of BiH Milorad Dodik and the president of RS Željka Cvijanović are not attending today's session, marking them as the real proponents of the said draft law.

Numerous issues were raised during the discussion, including the structural dialogue on justice between BiH and the EU, the composition and mandate of the HJPC members and lustration, and the planned delayed entry into force of the said law, as well as the dualism that will be in force with the establishment of the entity HJPC, and other ambiguities present in the mentioned draft law.

Some opposition MPs expressed doubts about the sincere intentions of the proponents of the law, emphasizing that everything is in the function of exacerbating political tensions on a daily basis and covering up huge crime and corruption, and in improving the rating of the ruling parties in the RS before the next general elections in BiH.

As the agenda of the regular session of the National Assembly envisaged, the MPs should also consider the Proposal of the Decision on the adoption of the Zoning Plan of the Special Purpose Area "Trebinje Airport".
