SARAJEVO, March 17 (FENA) - Another round of talks on changes to the BiH Election Law was held in the building of the European Union Delegation in Sarajevo, attended by representatives of political parties, the director of the European External Action Service Angelina Eichhorst and the US Ambassador in BiH Michael Murphy.
Damir Mašić from the Social Democratic Party of BiH emphasized that the negotiations will continue tomorrow at 9 am.
- There is a readiness to discuss the improvement of the integrity of the election process and to finally get an election law that will ensure that elections are determined based on how voters voted - said Mašić.
He underlined that the problem is the radical request of the HDZ BiH that members of the Central Election Commission be elected in the House of Peoples, although this is nowhere contained in the ODIHR recommendations.
The representative of our party, Damir Arnaut, said that "regarding the negotiations on the integrity of the HDZ BiH, he insists that the CEC be elected in the House of Peoples in addition to the House of Representatives."
The President of the People and Justice, Elmedin Konaković, assessed that the atmosphere at today's meeting was much better than in Neum.
- Today was a much more constructive discussion and there are much more concrete proposals that could lead to final solutions. I am not overly optimistic, but it is much better than we have seen so far - said Konaković.
