MOSTAR, March 21 (FENA) - 'Earth Hour', the largest global volunteer action to preserve the planet, is marked on March 26 by switching off the lights at 8.30 pm. Therefore, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Adria invites cities in BiH to respond to that action.
"Earth Hour, one of the world's largest civic environmental initiatives, will reunite people around the world to show their commitment to the planet. As global biodiversity declines at an unprecedented rate, about a million species are threatened with extinction and the planet is on the brink of global warming. With this action, the WWF wants to emphasize the importance of nature as the foundation of a healthy planet and healthy people," WWF Adria said in a statement.
The organization invited all mayors in Bosnia and Herzegovina to join this year's action and for UNESCO's landmarks - the Old Bridge in Mostar and the Mehmed-pasha Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad - to be in the dark again alongside other UNESCO buildings in the world.
Held every year on the last Saturday of March, Earth Hour engages supporters in more than 190 countries and territories, all taking action to ensure a brighter future for people and the planet.
