TUZLA, March 22 (FENA) - The Coordination of Veterans' Associations in the Tuzla Canton has warned the public that the requests from the RS MoI addressed to the former ARBiH members for interrogation have become frequent and that continuous calls to former ARBiH members to talk about war events before the RS institutions place pressure on Bosniak returnees.

"These are unlawful and fabricated trials that are initiated with witnesses of questionable credibility. Some of the former members of ARBiH have been summoned several times for interrogations about alleged war crimes in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, where thousands of civilians were shot dead," said Muzijet Kahrimanović from the Coordination of Associations of Fighters in the Tuzla Canton.

The District Public Prosecutor's Office in Bijeljina states that certain persons are called to be heard as witnesses and in most cases, it is not known whether those persons were members of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The institution says that they do not know whether they are persons from the list of the Institute for Research of War Crimes Banja Luka, and that the Bijeljina Prosecutor's Office is currently conducting 15 investigations into war crimes cases.

"The work on these cases has been intensified in view of the request of the HJPC BiH that most cases be completed in 2022 and 2023 in accordance with the revised strategy for work on war crimes cases. Also, it is important to emphasize that our prosecutor's office does not know which of the invited persons has been diagnosed with behavioral disorders, so it is very important that they present us with medical documentation so such persons then would not be questioned," told FENA Danka Prodanović from the Bijeljina District Public Prosecutor's Office.

The District Public Prosecutor's Office in Bijeljina said that from the point of view of their institution, "Bosniak returnees to the RS can feel safe and that it is desirable for them to respond to the prosecutor's call for questioning and thus contribute to clarifying war crimes cases."
