MOSTAR, April 10 (FENA) - The fact is that Covid-19 pandemic is still developing in the world and it is certain that the next, the sixth wave will not bypass our country either, Siniša Skočibušić, Director of the Public Health Institute of the Federation of BiH, told FENA, emphasizing that the measures have been significantly reduced, but that they will certainly be modified depending on the epidemiological situation.

“Currently in some parts of the world we see the outbreak of coronavirus such as Shanghai where15 million people are in isolation due to the reappearance of covid, which means that it is very expected that a new wave will come again in BiH as well. We know that this disease more or less takes place in waves, and we also know that the so-called seasonality is developing and that this season will most likely be after the holidays, i.e. in the autumn-winter period,” said Skočibušić.

He said that for two years we had a pandemic that was the focus of both the media and the health system, and that today it has remained exclusively in the focus of the health system.

Speaking about epidemiological measures, he said that the very fact that such a small number of people are currently infected speaks in favor of the fact that there is no need to ban large gatherings and for such restrictive measures.

As for vaccination, it is ongoing all the time and is carried out by all health institutions.

He emphasized that the fourth dose is also being considered, noting that overcoming one genetic variant does not provide protection for all genetic variants of the virus.

“It is true that we are currently considering the fourth dose, given that we know that protection has its limited duration, so it will be necessary, but when we make a final decision in accordance with international recommendations of the World Health Organization and relevant experts, we will inform the citizens of our country,” said Skočibušić.
