MOSTAR, April 24 (FENA) - The survival and development of the Mostar International Airport is one of the key factors for recovery, revitalization of the economy, an increase of investments, and thus improvement of overall quality of life, said in a statement for FENA, Ivan Ljubić, the managing director of this airport.
"The potential of the market undoubtedly exists and we are looking forward to the establishment of an 'air bridge' that will return 'old' tourists with low ticket prices, but also attract new ones, and provide all residents, our citizens and the wider community to travel to multiple destinations under cheap prices, he said, speaking about a meeting in Budapest with Wizz Air Group President Robert Carey, where it was agreed to continue the work on introducing new flights and destinations from Mostar.
With the arrival of the new tourist season, regular seasonal flights to Düsseldorf have been agreed upon, and charter operations from Poland, Hungary, Italy and Jordan should begin soon.
Flights Dusseldorf - Mostar should be in operation from June 30 to August 28 this year, and charter flights from Italy (Palermo and Catania) from July 31 to September 3, flights from Amman (Jordan) from May 3 to 1 September, and flights on the route Katowice - Mostar from June 21 to September 30.
"We still have many inquiries, but not confirmations from other cities or destinations from Italy, Spain, Ireland and we expect a successful season and an economic recovery of the Mostar Airport," said Ljubić.
