SDA: Mahmuljin did not order or commit any crime but still he received harsher sentence

SARAJEVO, April 28 (FENA) - The conviction of the RBiH Army Third Corps Commander Sakib Mahmuljin is not justice, the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) said.

General Mahmuljin did not order or commit a crime - nor is it established in this verdict - and will never be compared with the generals of the RS Army and the HVO who ordered, organized and committed mass murders such as the Srebrenica genocide through joint criminal enterprises, who committed crimes in Vlasenica, Prijedor, Sanski Most or the Ahmići massacre.

The sentence of eight years in prison for not preventing other people's crimes, based on questionable allegations of superiority to the perpetrators of crimes, is an unjust punishment. We remind, for example, that the commanders of the battalions of the Zvornik Brigade, Srećko Aćimović and Ostoja Stanišić, were sentenced to seven and five years in prison before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for knowingly helping the execution of 3,000 Bosniaks in Kozluk and Petkovci as part of the Srebrenica genocide.

The SDA believes that the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been selective in its approach to prosecuting war crimes.

According to the SDA, it cannot be explained otherwise that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH did not file any indictments against the direct perpetrators of crimes committed during the siege of Sarajevo, that it allowed the escape of Srebrenica genocide suspect Miomir Savčić and that it did not file charges against the HVO officers, or the VRS for committing and ordering mass crimes, while systematically persecuting senior ARBiH officers for not preventing crimes.
