MOSTAR, May 6 (FENA) - By signing an agreement with representatives of the Council of Europe, the City of Mostar was awarded a grant of 35,000 euros, out of a total of 80,000 euros to support the city's implementation of recommendations from the Mostar Citizens' Assembly.

The agreement was signed on Friday in Mostar by Bojana Urumova, head of the Council of Europe office in Sarajevo, and Mostar Mayor Mario Kordić.

In a statement to the media, Urumova said that the funds would be used to implement the recommendations of the citizens from the Mostar Citizens' Assembly held in July last year.

- A randomly selected group of citizens worked on the issues of maintaining common public spaces in the city and maintaining the cleanliness of the city. Based on their work, they made recommendations that were included in the Action Plan, which was later adopted by the City Council. We now want to meet the expectations of citizens - she said.

The Mayor of Mostar added that the topics of the citizens were mostly communal, stating that certain activities have already been done.

- These grant funds ensure that these recommendations will really be seen on the ground. I think that this is a fantastic story that the City of Mostar will certainly continue to support - said Kordić, thanking the head of the Council of Europe office in Sarajevo.

The allocation of these funds is realized within the project of the Council of Europe "Innovation of democratic participation at the local level in Bosnia and Herzegovina" implemented by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, and within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina 2022-2025.

The project aims to improve the quality of local democracy and create opportunities for citizens to engage in innovative participatory processes in Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
