SARAJEVO, May 9 (FENA) - The verdict of the High Court in Belgrade against former member of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein Mujanović represents the continuation of the persecution of the state of Serbia against the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said today BiH Presidency Chairman Šefik Džaferović.
He emphasized that Serbia had been convicted in the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal and the International Court of Justice of participating in the international conflict on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and as an aggressor state it has no credibility to prosecute citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“This was confirmed by the courts in London and Vienna, in the cases of Divjak and Ganić, when they clearly said that an objective process cannot be expected before the judicial authorities of Serbia. If there is a basis, Husein Mujanović could only be tried by the Court of BiH, and since Serbia has been rejecting it all along, this verdict of the court in Belgrade is nothing but politically motivated persecution,” Džaferović said.
Also, the announcement of Serbian officials, led by the president of that country, that he would end this practice proved to be hypocrisy, says Džaferović, and it is quite clear that the goal of the Serbian state is to intimidate political persecution of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina through its repressive apparatus, which cannot be left without consequences for relations between the two states.
He announced that in the coming period, the institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina will intensify communication with the institutions of the European Union and member states that Serbia, as an EU candidate, provides protection to convicted war criminals such as Novak Djukić, delays the trial protection from the trial of senior officers at the VRS Main Staff, Svetozar Kosorić, Radoslav Janković, Milomir Savčić and Brane Pećanac, charged with genocide in Srebrenica, which best demonstrates the continuity of their intentions towards BiH and the Bosniak people.
