SARAJEVO, May 22 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović met yesterday in Sarajevo with European Council President Charles Michel and Croatian Democratic Union of BiH (HDZ) President Dragan Čović, and said that the European Union and Michel are returning the focus to Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path.

"After the meeting with Michel, a 'road map' was offered, which envisages that the Election Law will be negotiated in the fall after the elections and the formation of coalitions. Michel is ready to work on an agenda that will lower the scale from the 14th priority and go for something that is less ambitious, which will enable us to obtain candidate status and start that process," said Izetbegović.

Regarding the 'road map', he says that these are topics that are necessary for BiH.

"Unblocking, stabilization of the situation in BiH, better cooperation, European path before the session of the EU Council at the end of June. Probably they will come to Sarajevo or we will go to Brussels, and then in fall after the elections and formation of coalitions we will return to topics such as the Election Law, state property, the law banning genocide denial," Izetbegović explained.

At the meeting, he told Michel that all actors must attend the meetings, and underlined that they are not going to a reduced format.

"They realized that they made a mistake here as well, because the reduced Izetbegović-Čović format never had a chance, which opened the possibility for speculation. This time, everyone has to be present, not to get away, and then to score political points on the fact that someone else went to Brussels, and they did not. This is our common country, these are important issues to discuss and everyone should be present," Izetbegović stated.

According to him, the European representatives made the mistake of not strongly supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina towards membership in the European Union, and not to raise the scale in terms of demands.
