It is the first military facility renovated and equipped according to gender-sensitive standards. The facility provides equal conditions for the performance of duties for both women and men, who are on duty at Manjača.

It is a modern guard facility, renovated with the support of the United Kingdom Government, in accordance with the recommendations of the "Women, Peace and Security" program, which will enable easier tasks on the range, but also further development of the BiH Combat Training Center in Manjača.

On this occasion, the Minister of Defense of BiH, Sifet Podžić, pointed out the long-term assistance provided by the Government of the United Kingdom to the Armed Forces of BiH, both in recruiting and educating young personnel and supporting the development of military ambulances, and introducing some new skills and methods.

“Integrating the principles of the program "Women, Peace and Security", the right to gender equality is mandatory in all forms of admission, education and promotion in active military service, including openness of all organizational positions, working conditions, participation in training, exercises, missions and other activities in BiH and abroad,” said Podžić.

On this occasion, the Commander of the NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Pamela McGaha, pointed out that this project testifies to the continuous commitment of the Ministry of Defense to women playing a full and active role in all spheres of society.

“With today's event, we want to ensure that the infrastructure of the AF BiH is even better adapted to both women and men, as well as that the conditions of service are attractive to the citizens of BiH, in order to enlist in the Armed Forces. The United Kingdom is proud of our long-term partnership with the BiH Armed Forces on the implementation of the principle of ‘Women, Peace and Security’,” said the British Ambassador to BiH Mattew Field.

Today, 770 women serve in the AF BiH, which makes up 8.2 percent of the total staff of the AF BiH. With the support of the British Embassy in BiH, the Chief of Staff of the AF BiH joined the Network of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces "Women, Peace and Security" in 2018, in order to introduce practical changes in the defense system stemming from UN Resolution 1325 and NATO program "Women, peace and security.
