SARAJEVO, July 27 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Selmo Cikotić, met with the Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier General Pamela L. McGaha.
On that occasion, she emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina should be proud of all its emergency services, both civil and military, which work as a team to save lives and livelihoods, while fighting forest fires.
Unfortunately, throughout Europe, forest fires are a serious problem every year.
“That is why NATO and its allies are investing large amounts of money in preparing for such emergency situations in every country in the Balkans. By working and training together, and using NATO-funded tools such as our Incident Command App, which allows different emergency services to see the same information and communicate with each other, we can combine our resources to save communities from devastating fires. The Ministry of Security of BiH is doing an excellent job in coordinating these efforts in BiH,” stated McGaha.
During the meeting, they also discussed the customized aid package that was offered to Bosnia and Herzegovina at last month's NATO summit in Madrid, in the context of defending Bosnia and Herzegovina against cyber attacks and other forms of hybrid warfare.
Minister Cikotić thanked the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo for all the support to the Ministry of Security of BiH so far, especially in the area of strengthening the capacity of the protection and rescue system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
