SARAJEVO, September 16 (FENA) – The Association "Woman - Victim of War", on the occasion of the request of the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zaharova, who called for the release of the war criminal Ratko Mladić, said that it would be good if "Russia, instead of calling for the release criminals, extradite war criminals from Bosnia and Herzegovina to whom it gave safe haven".
“Many war criminals are returned only when they die of natural causes and do not receive a fair trial. Russia's positions on this matter have long been clear, so the mentioned call for the release of a criminal who, among other things, was sentenced for the crime of genocide against Bosniaks, is not surprising,” the Association said.
They also point out that the Hague Tribunal, or its successor, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, is not a humanitarian organization.
“It is about the highest judicial instance in charge of judging criminals, not rewarding them. It is a well-known fact that Russia was an active participant in the aggression and genocide committed in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Many Russian mercenaries and volunteers died on the territory of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is proven by the monuments throughout the entity of the RS, especially in the city of Višegrad,” stated the Association "Woman-Victim of War", which informed the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals office in Sarajevo about the aforementioned.
