SARAJEVO, October 25 (FENA) - Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Šefik Džaferović, congratulated Rishi Sunak on his election as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
“I congratulate you on your election to the leading position of the Government of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom and Bosnia and Herzegovina have friendly relations, which, I am convinced, will further develop and strengthen during your upcoming mandate,” says Džaferović.
The United Kingdom is one of the most important partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with which we share common interests regarding the integration process, peace, and stability in this part of the European continent, as well as its development.
“We in Bosnia and Herzegovina find the attention paid by the Government and the Parliament of the United Kingdom to the memory of the genocide in Srebrenica, as well as to efforts to prevent violence based on ethnic, religious, and racial grounds, particularly important. Bearing in mind the responsibility that the United Kingdom has, as one of the witnesses to the Dayton Agreement and a member of the Peace Implementation Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I want to say that it is particularly important that we work together to eliminate ethnic and racial discrimination, and to strengthen individual rights and freedoms, so that what your choice symbolizes in the United Kingdom, and which perhaps once seemed unattainable, would become normal in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Your election represents new hope and energy for the United Kingdom, but also beyond, and I wish you and your future cabinet a successful mandate, primarily for the benefit of the citizens of the United Kingdom, as well as the entire Euro-Atlantic community of which we are a common part,” added Džaferović in his congratulatory message.
