MOSTAR, December 16 (FENA) - Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament (AFET) David McAllister congratulated BiH on receiving candidate status and ordered that the newly formed government should put aside all disputes and start fulfilling the necessary conditions.
- We came to BiH on a festive day, when the country received candidate status. I congratulate you on that. What is expected of the newly formed government in BiH is to put aside all disagreements and start fulfilling 14 necessary conditions in order for BiH to open negotiations, which is the next step, and to move forward on the European path - David McAllister said on Friday in Mostar during the meeting with the management of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Mostar.
As he added, the reason for his arrival is a visit to the University and the Faculty of Political Sciences, where he was presented with a study on possible political solutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to see the city of Mostar for the first time.
In addition to the administration of the Faculty of Philosophy, McAllister will also meet with the Mayor of Mostar, Marija Kordić, and the President of the Croatian National Assembly and the HDZ of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Čović.
Along with McAllister, the meeting at the University of Mostar was also attended by AFET's vice-chair Željana Zovko, who said that BiH, from its candidate status, "enters from the circle of the second league to the first league, the league of those who are really expected to truly enter the European Union", stressing that it is no longer questionable whether BiH is sustainable or not.
